Read the instructions and programmed the county code for my state. Good product. Next time a severe thunderstorm came up (about a week later) it worked flawlessly. Recieved it promptly. Opened up the box, plugged it in. Would recommend for folks who live out in the rural areas and away from the toronado sirens. Once again a good product for the money.
This radio is excellent. It picks up the weather better than others I've seen in this area. It is reasonably easy to program for the area if you have web access to get the lists of county codes. It works well, sits silent until there's an alarm.
After the rash of tornadoes in our area we decided to buy the Weather radio. Setup was very easy. We liked this product so much we bought another for my parents.
I have owned this unit (WR-100C) for over two months with no problems. Once the correct SAME code(s) for your area are entered, you can eliminate those alarms you do not wish to hear. As Tropical Storm Fay came by us, the radio was going off all the time with the new alerts just as expected. The only feature that I would like to see is an option button to mute all alerts except `Warnings' so that Informational and Watch alerts do not wake you up during the night.
I then told her that it's worked fine for 4 months and it's been in the same location in my house the whole time. This radio worked great for about 4 months. She told me to take it back where I bought it or send it in to them with my receipt. Now everytime I turn it on I have about 10 seconds to listen to the weather then all I get is static and dislpay shows signal failure. To make matters worse, Midland, who is located near me told me I needed an external antennea. I bought this at a grocery store and I don't have the receipt. What a piece of s@*&.
